MUSICAL THEATER VOICE TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Seeking an experienced voice teacher, specializing in musical theater style based on a classical foundation. Knowledge of vocal technique, musical theater repertoire, and audition technique is required. Previous experience working with children/teens a must. Light piano accompaniment required in lessons. 

We are looking for an hourly contractor who can commit to 2-3 weekday afternoons and at least one full weekend day.

Salary: $45 / hour

Schedule: In person; ~3-4 days a week (one of those days could be virtual if there is student interest)

Travel: The organization’s rehearsal studio is in Elmsford, NY. Contractor must provide their own transportation.

BUSINESS MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Seeking a part-time Business Manager to join its small yet very productive staff. Primary areas of responsibility are bookkeeping and HR. 

We are looking for an hourly contractor who can commit to 2-3 weekday afternoons and at least one full weekend day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Bookkeeping (approx. 75% of duties)

  • Accounts Payable (Pay both operational bills and independent contractor invoices)
  • Accounts Receivable (create invoices, collect balances due)
  • Monthly Reconciliation: Reconcile QuickBooks with various external accounts (checking and credit cards) and with internal databases (fundraising, program registrations, ticket sales, etc.)
  • Process annual 1099s
  • Internal Budgets: Work with Executive Team to create, manage, and actualize annual operating budget
  • Financial Reports: Regularly provide financial reports to executive staff and board (cash flow projections, P&L statements, budget actualizations, etc.)
  • Annual Audit: Work with external accountants to complete annual financial audit

Human Resources (approx. 20% of duties)

  • Process on-boarding procedures for new employees and independent contractors (filing paperwork, running background checks, issuing credit card, etc.)
  • Benefit Management: Oversee all staff benefits (health, 401K), manage payroll deductions, process all garnishments as needed
    Calculate and submit DBL and PFL premiums
  • Process bimonthly payroll
  • Manage and pay 401K benefits

Office Management (approx. 5% of duties)

  • Update various office services (eg: Staples account, company email accounts, etc.)
  • Manage Gmail account set up and terminations and mail forwarding setup
  • Send all contracts to board members as directed by Board

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years professional bookkeeping experience, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Extensive knowledge of QuickBooks Online required.
  • Payroll administration experience as well as benefit management experience required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
  • Experience with Google for Business (Google Drive, Calendar, Email) preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple staff when needed, while working independently for a majority of the time.

SOFTWARE / SYSTEMS INTEGRAL TO THE POSITION

  • QuickBooks (online edition)
  • MS Excel
  • Ability to learn other software and systems as necessary to the position (Patron / Salesforce, Formstack, Asana, Google Apps, Docusign).

WORK LOCATION / SCHEDULE

Start Date: September 1, 2022

Hours: 15-20 per week

Pay: $30-35/hr., commensurate with experience

Schedule: This is a part-time remote-work position. The Business Manager may create their own schedule and they may work remotely and will come into the Random Farms studio at least 1 day per month as best fits his/her schedule and work style. Tasks with specific time requirements:

  • Quarterly and yearly budget creation and actualization calls 
  • Weekly calls with COO and monthly staff calls

COSTUME ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

Looking for detail oriented, self-directed people who are flexible and enthusiastic to meet the ever-changing needs of a show in progress. Adults, college students, high school students aged 16 and up.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assisting with costume fittings, load-in, set-up and strike at theater (costumes, wigs, accessories).
  • Helping student actors in and out of costumes, quick changes during dress rehearsals and performances.
  • Basic sewing skills are helpful but not mandatory.

  • October / November / December Hours @ Elmsford, NY Studio: Weekdays 3:00-8:00pm, Weekends 9:00am-5:00pm
  • November Hours @ White Plains Performing Arts Center: Weekdays: 3:30pm-8:00pm, Weekends: 9:00am-5:00pm
  • December Hours @ Yorktown Stage in Yorktown: Weekdays 3:00-8:00pm, Weekends 9:00am-5:00pm
  • December / January Hours @ Paramount Hudson Valley Theater: Weekdays 4:00pm-9:30pm, Weekends 9:00am-9:00pm

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Random Farms Kids’ Theater is a not-for-profit organization that offers musical theater programming to young people from kindergarten to college. The company was founded in 1995 and currently serves approximately 1,200 young people each year with an annual operating budget of $1.7 million. Random Farms operates primarily in Westchester County, NY, though many of its participants travel from nearby counties in NY as well as CT and NJ. There are currently 10 full-time employees, plus several part-time employees and independent contractors.
