Be in a Show!

Jellybeans: Grades K-2

No audition necessary

This unique program offers our youngest performers the opportunity to perform on a real stage in an actual musical.  Every child will get a role with speaking line and solos. While the shows are fully produced with lighting, sound, and terrific costumes, the emphasis of this program is truly on the journey.  We strive to make sure each child is learning, growing, and having fun.

The Jellybeans are divided into sections (Group A, Group B, Group C, etc.). Each section has 16 children in it. Each section puts on its own performance. There is no double casting or chorus – everyone has a featured part.

The Jellybeans program is comprised of 11 sessions.  Each session is 1 hr. long. The first session is role placement.  Although everyone will end up with a speaking and singing role, going through the role placement process is an important part of the learning experience.  The next 8 sessions are the rehearsals. The 10th session is a dress rehearsal. The 11th session is a final dress rehearsal, followed by the performance.

The 11 sessions are spread out over a 3-month period.  When choosing a group, parents can pick the time and day that is most convenient for them (weeknight and weekend options available).  There is a session in the fall (Sept-Dec), winter (January-March) and spring (March-June).

Workshops: Grades 3-8

No audition necessary

Our most popular program!  We have taken classic Broadway shows and condensed them into easy-to-learn “mini musicals” that give everyone a chance to shine. It is the perfect place to hone your skills. The Workshops are appropriate for kids with all levels of experience. The goal is for children to obtain musical theater training while rehearsing for a show. The “process” – especially teamwork and self-esteem – is stressed as much as the “product” – a 45-55 minute performance for family and friends.

The workshops are divided into sections (Group A, Group B, Group C, etc.). Each section has 18-24 children in it. Each section puts on its own performance. There is no double casting or chorus – everyone has a featured part.

A Workshop is comprised of approximately 10 sessions. Each session is 2 hrs. 30 min. long. The first session is role placement. Although everyone will end up with a speaking and singing role, going through the role placement process is an important part of the learning experience. The next seven sessions are the rehearsals. The ninth session is a dress rehearsal. The tenth session is a final dress rehearsal, followed by the performance.

The 10 sessions are spread out over a 3 month period. When choosing a group, parents can pick the time and day that is most convenient for them (weeknight and weekend options available).  There is a Workshop in the fall (Sept-Nov), winter (January-March) and spring (March-June).

Lab: Grades 6-9

No audition necessary

A challenging program just for our 5-8 graders, which allows our tweens to take their musical theater training to the next level!

Students will rehearse for a classic Broadway show that gives everyone a chance to shine and hone their skills. The Lab is appropriate for tweens with all levels of experience. The goal is for performers to obtain musical theater training while rehearsing for a show. The “process” – especially teamwork and self-esteem – is stressed as much as the “product” – an hour-long performance for family and friends.

The Lab is divided into sections (Group A, Group B, Group C, etc.). Each section has 18-24 kids in it. Each section puts on its own performance. There is no double casting or chorus – everyone has a featured part.

A Lab is comprised of approximately 10 sessions.  Most sessions involve 2 casts rehearsing at a time and run for 3 hrs. The first session is role placement. Although everyone will end up with a speaking and singing role, going through the role placement process is an important part of the learning experience. The next 7 sessions are rehearsals.  For the final few sessions, the casts rehearse one at a time.  The program culminates in 2 dress rehearsals and a performance.

The 10 sessions are spread out over a 3 month period. When choosing a group, parents can pick the time and day that is most convenient for them (weeknight and weekend options available).  There is a Lab in the winter (January-March) and spring (March-June).

The winter show runs the last week of Jan and the first week of Feb. Auditions take place in early Sept and rehearsals are 2-3 times/wk from Nov-Jan. The spring show runs for two weeks in mid-May. Auditions take place in mid-Dec and rehearsals are 2-3 times/wk from March-May.

Anyone may audition, regardless of whether or not you participate in any of our other programs. No prior experience is needed to audition. Cast sizes are kept small, with 2-4 casts of 20-25 performers in each. The casts rehearse two at a time but perform separately (each cast does 2 shows).

Summer Productions

Summer Workshop Intensives: Grades 3-9

No audition necessary

Just like our Workshop program, this is the perfect place for students to hone their skills over the summer. Appropriate for kids with all levels of experience, the goal is for children to obtain musical theater training while rehearsing for a show. The “process” – especially teamwork and self-esteem – is stressed as much as the “product” – a 45-55 minute performance for family and friends.

Every performer will have a speaking part and a solo! Each full day is packed with theater activities and includes rehearsals to prepare for the final performance. “Specials” such as dance classes, create-your-own-musical, improvisation, and more are also held throughout the session.

There are four 2-week sessions (Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm) held throughout July and August. Extended care is available both before and after each day. Rehearsals are in Elmsford with the performance at a professional theater in Westchester.
